Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Adult Independent Living

We’re hiring a Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Adult Independent Living to provide individualized support to adults with intellectual disabilities as they build independence, confidence, and daily living skills. In this role, you’ll help individuals work toward their personal goals and Overall Service Plans (OSP), supporting them in living as independently as possible in both residential and community settings.

What You’ll Do:

Individualized Support & Skill Development

  • Assess and assist individuals in learning independent living skills in accordance with their Overall Service Plan (OSP) and priorities established by the Interdisciplinary Planning Team (IDT)
  • Support individuals in developing greater self-sufficiency and overall well-being
  • Assist individuals in community activities and promote successful community living

Daily Living Support

  • Prepare meals and provide hands-on training according to established menus
  • Support personal hygiene and encourage clean, healthy daily routines
  • Complete household and cleaning tasks while providing instruction and support to individuals

Health, Safety & Medication Support

  • Supervise medication administration and provide hands-on training according to medication procedures
  • Monitor health needs daily and follow designated care procedures
  • Support behavioral needs related to successful community living and residential adjustment
  • Conduct fire drills in accordance with regulations and complete required documentation

Documentation & Team Collaboration

  • Review daily logs, communication books, and Medication Administration Records (MAR) at the beginning of each shift
  • Record observations, census information, meals served, sleep charts, kitchen documentation, cleaning checklists, and weekly weights
  • Assist with yearly assessments and personal property inventories
  • Participate in administrative, supervisory, and program planning meetings as assigned

What You Bring:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Minimum of one year experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities preferred
  • Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work professionally with individuals supported, peers, and leadership
  • Ability to complete all ND Developmental Disabilities training modules within 18 months of employment
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check required
